Admission Policy

Admission to Holy Name School is obtained through formal registration. No student will be refused because of race, religion, or ethnic background. All students are encouraged to participate in the Catholic educational experience and nurtured to reach their potential. The feasibility of accepting any child with disabilities into Holy Name Elementary School will be dependent upon the schoolands ability to meet the childands educational needs. Reasonable accommodations will be made, if feasible, to include a student in the Holy Name community.

Students and parents must support the philosophy and policies of Holy Name Elementary School.

Students of all faiths are required to participate in Religion classes and all religious services provided within the school day.

 
Registration Priorities
  • Students currently attending
  • Students with a sibling attending or recent graduate
  • Holy Name Parish members
  • Students who have received a Scholarship Grant from the State of Ohio
 
Registration Process
  • Current students register in March for the next school year
  • New students register at the end of March
  • Students seeking entrance in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade MUST have an interview with the Principal. Students accepted at all grade levels may be placed on Academic or Behavioral probation to be certain that placement at Holy Name Elementary School is the best placement for the child. If there is a question about whether or not a placement is appropriate for students entering other grades, the Principal may elect to interview that child.

New registrants need to have at the time of registration:

  • Birth certificate
  • Most recent report card (grades 1-8)
  • Signed Release of Records from prior school
  • Record of Immunizations
  • Legal proof of right to register (i.e. Custody papers)
  • In addition, students who are Catholic should provide a copy of their Baptismal certificate

Students who wish to enroll from another Catholic school may do so only if all financial obligations to that school have been met. (Ref. Tuition Policy). After receipt and review of the studentands records from previous educational institutions, acceptance will be made final for that academic year. When a student is transferring to another school or graduating and moving on to high school, the first transfer of records is free. Thereafter, a $10 fee must be paid before records will be transferred.

 
Kindergarten Registration
  • All children attending Kindergarten must be five years old by September 30th. All seeking acceptance to Kindergarten will be given the andEarly Prevention of School Failureand screening to determine readiness.
  • Children entering Grade One must be six years of age by September 30th and/or provide evidence of successfully completing Kindergarten in an accredited school.
